Ever wish you had a camera handy? I certainly have. I’m Susan Nye and after years of missing shots of glorious sunsets, misty mornings, interesting faces and more, I decided to change all that. Now I (try to always remember but sometimes fail to) carry a camera with me everywhere. I snap bits and pieces of my day and share them on Susan Nye 365. From flora and foliage to food to family and friends, you can see where I’ve been and what I’m doing.
In addition to photography, I love storytelling and love to cook. Happily, I’ve found a way to combine the two in Susan Nye – Around the Table. Every week I share some of my favorite recipes along with personal stories or a little advice. Over the past few years I have shared tales of bike riding on Jackson Road, Christmas shopping with my Dad and baking pies with my Nana Nye. These are the stories that my family tells and retells around the table, sometimes laughing, sometimes cringing a bit but always happy to share our favorite memories. You’ll also find a bit of advice and more than a menu or two.
And then there is my other, cleverly named Susan Nye’s Other Blog. On this blog, I write about my mother’s Alzheimer’s Disease and my own reinvention. In addition to writing about Alzheimer’s and its impact on my mother and our family, I am raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association with my Eat Well-Do Good project. I hope you will take a minute or two to learn more about this project. Unfortunately other commitments too often interfere so Susan Nye’s Other Blog is frequently neglected for weeks at a time. I hope you will be patient with me and check back from time to time.
Finally, as one of the founding members of NH Writers’ Network, I blog about marketing and social media for writers on Live to Write – Write to Live.
That’s all in addition to a steady flow of articles for magazines and newspapers throughout New England. Along with food, I write about green living, family fun, entrepreneurship and small business.
And when I’m not writing or cooking? I’m living life in glorious New Hampshire. Skiing and snowshoeing when it’s cold and walking, hiking, kayaking when it’s not and reading any time I can grab a minute or two.
You can find some of my favorite recipes on my website and watch me cook on YouTube. For cooking tips, updates and more, follow me on Twitter or on Facebook.

What a wonderful idea for a blog. I struggle to write every day. Here, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Thanks for visiting … I’m not usually this disastrously late in replying to comments. Like you I also have a food blog (www.susannye.wordpress.com). I know I am at odds with many bloggers but I don’t think you have to post everyday. However, consistency is important. For a long time I only posted once a week but never skipped a week. Now, I usually post three times a week. Early in the week I post a seasonal story and recipe, mid-week I offer a quick tip or an inspirational quote and late in the week I suggest a menu for the weekend.
By the way – I loved the shoe/wine bottle video on your blog. For years I always carried a Swiss army knife with me. Eventually, one by one they were confiscated by airport security … I kept forgetting to take them out of my carry-on bag before flying. Thank goodness I will now be prepared for any impromptu picnic.
Have fun with your writing and cooking! …S.
